This December 24 Christmas Eve just as we are hoping we will be commemorating the anniversary of our community, this year celebrating 405 years of community history, and like all waiting to be celebrated birthday, our commune still waiting the official program of our city to celebrate another year.

Our city was founded 24 December 1603 , the birthday of Jesus , which is why the founder Chile Governor Don Alonso de Rivera, gave the name to the strength of " Nativity of Our Lord." Over time, it was shortening the name as being finally Birth.
has long been considered the last frontier of Chile, with the arrival of large investors became a prosperous town, just enough to see old buildings like the theater, the former municipality, the former housing inventory credit, the tannery house and the palace Gleisner. It is also worth mentioning its huge mines of clay and ceramics. Much of this progress has vanished with the earthquakes of the twentieth century (from 1939 and the 1960) lamenting the loss of the great Franciscan church and other famous buildings.
